Aang: I did it! I made fire!
Katara: Aang, that’s great, but you should take it slow. Careful!
Aang: Now that’s firebending!
Katara: Aang, you’ll hurt yourself!
Aang: Wonder how that juggler did it?
Katara: AHHHH
Aang: Katara! I’m so sorry!
Sokka: Katara, what’s wrong!? What did you do?
Aang: It was an accident! I was… Katara, I’m so-
Sokka: I told you we shouldn’t mess around with this! Look what you did! You burned my sister!Sorry everybody, but this has to be one of my least favorite part of the whole series. Everybody over-reacts. Katara freaks out (though getting burnt does hurt a lot) and Sokka freaks out and blames Aang, making him feel bad and refuse to firebend until the middle of the third season. I just think things could have been handled a little differently.
You know what? I totally agree with you! That totally ruined his course in trying to firebend. We would’ve seen so much more progress in his talents, and he wouldn’t have depended so much on his Avatar state. At least in the end, we know it all worked out.
“The End”
(Episode 3.21, “Avatar Aang”)
And they frenched right into the end credits… and our hearts.
Aaron Ehasz described this whole ending as essentially symbolic of a wedding.
I asked [Aaron Ehasz] why we never got to see Aang tell Katara he loved her and about the chakra. He replied “The way we saw it, Aang was never going to tell Katara about the chakra, he loves her to much to make her feel bad about something like that. As for them saying that they love each other, we decided to do that in symbolism and actions instead of words.” He paused and then said: “At the end of the finale when Katara kisses Aang and the camera zooms out, we tried to make it look, and symbolize, a kiss that the bride and groom have at the end of the wedding. That kiss wasnt just a kiss, it was also foreshadowing of a wedding or a bond between the two.” When he told me that, I asked why they didnt just do an epilogue. He said “We wanted to leave everything open so we could pick up where we left off if we decided to. But there also may be some episodes in the future. Specials, maybe on Aang and Kataras children.”

OMG I had never read this quote before. If they make anything else Avatar, and I mean ANYTHING, my heart will explode with joy. EXPLODING HEARTS, IMAGINE IT.
o.o!!!! I never read that before either, that would be epic!
I must agree, if there is any more episodes (though it might be kinda weird to see Katara and Aang’s children… and everybody grown up!!!) my heart would also explode.
Oh, wow. After I read that quote, I almost cried… I had this feeling in my stomach of anxiety. Please continue the series…
